Thus, happiness in life is the goal that human beings try to achieve during their lifetime. Nevertheless, many people fail to achieve that goal of “being happy”. This could be due to misunderstanding what “happiness in life” or life contentment really means. Happiness in life, as proposed in this study, is not a life-related phenomenon. However, most people try to achieve happiness in life by focusing on life-related factors. Many people focus on their jobs as they believe success at work would make them happy. Others focus on their families as they believe happiness is felt because of family members’ life contentment. This paper argues that real happiness is not life driven. The authors believe that real happiness in life is felt when more focus is given to the life-after, not in the mundane and the temporary life itself. This paper proposes a model, known as MH4S Model, which is supported by Al Quran and Al Sunnah. This is the authors’ fervent belief that following this model could help people be happier at work, in their mundane lives in general and activities elsewhere. We define this model as Mind, Heart, Stomach, Gender Satisfaction (MH4S) Model. It proposes five components namely: Mind, Heart, Stomach, Sex desire /lust, self-satisfaction, and Soul. It states that enriching the mind and heart would lead to a positive contribution that increases self-esteem and self-satisfaction and thus makes the soul more positive while not eating much and staying away from lust would lead to higher self-esteem and higher level of spirituality.
Key words: life happiness, MH4S Model, happy employees, work-life balance
2023-09-09T00:00:00+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://publications.waim.my/index.php/jims/article/view/247 SYSTEMS THINKING, ECONOMICS, AND ISLAMIC ECONOMICS2023-09-12T05:48:52+00:00Rodrigue Fontaineridhwan_fontaine@iium.edu.my
This study is a literature review. It briefly introduces the role of systems thinking in Islamic management. It then looks at how systems thinking has applied in economics. In particular, the use of computer simulations has enabled systems thinkers to question existing economic assumptions. It then explores Islamic economics and asks whether Islamic economists should incorporate systems thinking in their research project. It seems that Muslim economists are aware of feedback economics but that their priorities are elsewhere.
2023-09-09T00:00:00+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://publications.waim.my/index.php/jims/article/view/253 THE ANTECEDENTS OF SOCIAL COMMERCE SERVICE QUALITY DIMENSIONS: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW2023-09-12T05:48:52+00:00Izzati Hanafiizzati.hanafi91@gmail.comRafikul Islamrislam@iium.edu.mySuharni Maulansuharni@iium.edu.my
The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review on Social Commerce Service Quality (SCSQ) and its dimensions. The authors conducted a systematic review of the extant literature on e-commerce, social commerce, service quality and e-service quality to identify the dimensions of Social Commerce Service Quality. Nine dimensions were identified of which social interaction has been mentioned the most in the past literature, implying that it is an essential dimension for both e-service quality and social commerce platforms. Due to the virtual nature of online shopping, information quality and functional quality are the second and third most frequently mentioned dimensions for mitigating the disadvantages of online shopping. Other dimensions are privacy/security, responsiveness, design quality, reliability, personalization, and social support. With that, this study presents an integrated model, which provides selected dimensions for researchers to further examine the SCSQ.
2023-09-09T00:00:00+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://publications.waim.my/index.php/jims/article/view/249 THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC SOCIAL FINANCE IN MITIGATING THE POVERTY LEVELS IN THE POST-PANDEMIC PERIOD2023-09-12T05:48:53+00:00Mohammad Enayet Hossainenayethossain26@gmail.comNur Farhah Binti Mahadifarhahmahadi@iium.edu.myRazali Haronhrazali@iium.edu.my
The global COVID-19 pandemic has infected millions of people at an alarming rate. The COVID-19 pandemic appeared out of nowhere and has since spread worldwide, with five million deaths recorded globally in just a few months. The economic crisis has prompted global shrinkage, which has resulted in an anticipated economic collapse for 2020–2021. This study examines whether Islamic social finance can effectively mitigate the dangers of humanitarian catastrophes. The study provides a multirange method for maximizing the advantage of Islamic social financing tools such as zakat and waqf. The information, documents, and data for this study are gathered using a qualitative method. The study employed ongoing research, literature review, news stories, reports, and trusted online sources. Eventually, this may add to knowledge by examining the role of Islamic social finance in the current Covid-19 crisis. The findings have consequences for governments and policymakers who want to solve the COVID-19 problem with Islamic social finance ideas and solutions, thereby enhancing people's social well-being and the global economy's development.
2023-09-09T00:00:00+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://publications.waim.my/index.php/jims/article/view/259 ISLAM, AUTHORITARIANISM, AND UNDERDEVELOPMENT: A GLOBAL AND HISTORICAL COMPARISON2023-09-12T05:48:53+00:00Mohamed Aslam Akbaraslamakbar@iium.edu.my2023-09-09T00:00:00+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##
